YES.

TEACHERS If other professionals are using computers and advanced communication tools, teachers should be trained on their use and approapriate technology made available. The education of future leaders and workers deserves this investment of time & $$$.

STUDENTS Years ago there was a concern that using technology would make students lazy, but I feel this is pretty well disproved. Bored students who are not being appropriately taught or challenged are usually performing poorly. Students with a dynamic learning program gifted teachers and a level of individualized programming which challenges the student and provides needed support usually perform better.

The perspective that one of my teachers in grad program in ed had was that if technologies are in use and proven to function well in the workplace, then shouldn’t students have use of this same technology. The example given in class was computers for word processing – most professional writiers and all professional editors use spellcheck programs – why then should we demand that students handwrite essays or papers and force teachers to spend more time looking for mispellings and using up red ink on that instead of challenging students to think through issues and topics and meaning or words and style of communication.

I personally agreed with this because my spelling was extremely poor due to dyslexia, and held my writing hostage until I began using wordprocessing. Now I can write so that others can understand and my use of spellcheck has actually improved my spelling and corrected some of my letter confusions and reversals over time.

Technology shows us human capabilities. It shows us what we can achieve if we fully use our mind which is the best gift of god to humankind. This makes us appreciate ourselves more.Besides that, technology is achieved by human through sharing of ideas whether directly or indirectly & this encourages others to come up with better ideas & new inventions that makes life more simpler for the human race. However, there are people who misuses technology, causes damage & take it for granted without thorough thinking. So,its up to each individual to make good use of technology and discover the importance of it.For me, technology is definitely a virtue.

For my lessons, I use Microsoft Office products, primarily Word and PowerPoint. I would be lost without PowerPoint. It allows me to prepare interesting and visually appealing lessons. The classrooms are set up with screens and overhead projectors so that my PPs are easy for the entire class to see.

I also use several apps on my ipod (English dictionary, Chinese-English and English-Chinese dictionary, World Fact Book, etc) I also download audio-video clips from the internet for the students to watch. This is about all the technology I use.

Yes,
Technology can support teaching and learning by including more senses (visuals to go along with lectures) etc. To provide more input for students and sometimes give them a chance for more active learning. Not everyone is an auditory learner who does well with lectures and technology helps other kinds of learners.

Into the USAF with a BA?

Hello, first of all I would like to say that I am greatful for all the answers I’ve received to my questions. The military folk here are so welcoming and helpful. I’ve become very fond of the military section here at Yahoo Answers.

Here’s the thing. I’ve exhausted the student loans I am allowed to take out from the FED Gov at my university. I support myself so finishing on the outside has become very difficult.

Anyone who has read my previous questions knows I am pursuing my 2nd Bachelor’s in Engineering (Mechanical Emphasis). I wanted to head out with all my course work done but that may change. Doesn’t bother me that I may have to leave sooner. I just have many many many questions.

I am 26, female. I have a pre-existing BA (in Film); A general education that was more classical hollywood style film education. Meaning I know how to film and edit 16mm and magstock sound. In terms of new technology it wasn’t taught much because instructors thought it would take away from learning classical rules. I do know some programs but the knowledge is a little limited. I’m sure I could pick them up quickly though.

Ive been advised by many of my friends, previous Marines, and Army, to go into the AF using my BA, and just worry about finishing up the BS in Mech Engr while in the AF. I do have a better GPA of 3.33 with my BA. What type of opportunities in Film exist in the AF for me?

Either way I want to be an Engr, but if I go in as an officer with my BA what happens from there? Im sure they will use my skill, but will they retrain me on their own methods of filmming if they assign me in that type of work? I also have work related experience in Community Relations, Financial Services, and Non-profit/Corporate Foundation work.

Can I still become an officier? I know a perk is the Loan Repayment stuff. I had planned to finish and use my Engr degree for the AF or Navy anyways. Is it best to choose the Loan Repayment program or can you forfiet for the GI Bill when done? I’m a little disappointed that I will not be an Engineer upon entering.

I will have the following course materials completed when I leave to the AF. And I know they are pretty universal and in most engineering curriculums:

Materials of Engineering
Calculus I
Calculus II
Calculus III
Physics with Calculus I
Physics with Calculus II
Physics with Calculus III
Statics
And possibly Differential Equations by then
There are sprinkles of other Engineering curriculum. For instance my school makes their engineering students take C++ programming with calculus functions, but its labelled something completely different.

I guess the point I am trying to make is that I went back to school to be an Engineer and much rather put to use my current education in math and science so far since I enjoy it much more.

Can any officer recruiters can tell me where my skillset would be best used? Also if I went in with my BA does that mean I have to use it? I know it sounds dumb but I really enjoy Math and Science much more.

Everyone tells me I am so difficult….LoL…so hopefully I havent given you all a headache.

Geoff answers:

It would be hard to get into the AF with a commission with a BA in Film, with a 3.3 GPA.

The AF OTS average GPA is 3.5.

Why not just contact an AFROTC program at a Univ with a Engineering School.

2,3 and 4 years AFROTC scholarships are available.

It would be almost impossible to complete an engineering degree, while on active duty.

You would have to be stationed near a engineering school, and trying to take a engineering course load, while working every day, would be very hard to do.

Even getting the first two years , is hard, since most univ’s without an engineering school, do not offer calculus based physics and Chemistry.

The AF gets most of its officers from the academy and AFROTC,

So AF OTS is looking for people with specific degrees and knowledge.

Underpriviledged children usually come from households where neither parent has received a postsecondary degree, and an increasing number even do not have high school diplomas. Although their parents strongly encourage education they have difficulty backing up their words because they do not understand many concepts to encourage children to stay in school and pursue a higher education; many cannot help their children with their homework assignments. And the majority of these parents have never logged on to the internet and are not technologically sound. These students are at a huge disadvantage when they are compared to students at other schools who have the technology, the lucrative school district money, and the parents that encourage them on a daily basis to do their best at all times. Up to date computers with up to date equipment and software systems are necessary to give them the tools they will need in this world to be able to come to the table and compete for positions in postsecondary institutions and the world of work. It is not a priviledge but a necessity to learn how to live in this world that increases our technological capacity on a daily basis. They already have so many other obstacles against them.

How can technology play a role in students from (k-12).?

The question is, How can the use of technology such as computers, laptops, powerpoint presentation etc play a role on a students learning experience in literacy and numeracy.

Also name some methods that some teachers use techonlogy to teach students.

Geoff answers:

I worked in a very tech savvy district. Here are some ways we used technology at school.

For instruction:
-Interactive power points presented using a projector in all subject areas.
-Streaming video projected to support lessons in literacy, science, math, social studies.
-Interactive computer games and programs projected and used to support concepts taught in literacy and math.
-Assessment programs that project questions and allow students to enter answers by remote.

Student use:
-Game programs used to support math and literacy during independent work time.
-Drawing programs used to illustrate reports and projects.
-Word processing programs for reports or written stories
-Internet research
-Power point to create presentations for reports
-Typing tutor programs to educate students in keyboarding skills

As a teacher it is EXTREMELY helpful to have technology in the classroom. I can research or even look up answers on the internet. Being able to present lessons visually using graphics and colorful text makes the lesson more interesting for students. Having the support of videos and programs also makes lessons more engaging for students. Technology really enhances the learning experience of students. It allows them to reinforce their own learning using programs that practice concepts, or even embellish their own projects and presentations. All skills that an adult today should be able to do.

Teach me to connect 2 lap tops via wireless technology for transfer of files!?

I got mine and my girlfriend’s lap top infront of me and there are some pictures and music that I would like to transfer from her pc to mine and vice-versa.

Geoff answers:

For a wireless connection, get two wireless cards, one for each laptop (assuming they are not already in the laptop) and since you
already have a wireless network running simply search for networks in the area on both PCs, find your network, and make each PC join it. They are then both on the network.

To share files, go onto your computer, right click a file, go to properties-sharing, then enable network file sharing on the file, give it a network name and click apply. Then on ur GF’s computer go to the “my network places” folder and wait a few seconds and your file will be there for her to copy or just use.

Just be sure that you are both on the same network and are within that network’s range, anything from 30-100 meters.
Hope that helped, tho to be honest i agree with the gentleman above me, a meter of CAT5 Cross-over cable plugged into your computers network ports would be far quicker, easier and more reliable if all u want to do is transfer a few files.

Can someone PLS judge my 2 paragraph essay?

This is an Application for “Governors School @ Innovation Park”
Which is a gifted 2 year program from Junior year to Senior year for the areas of Science, Engineering, Technology & Math.

Prompts:
1)What you anticipate your learning experiences will be and how you will be challenged by the governors schools use of the scientific method and problem based, inquiry learning
2)How will participating in this kind of learning experience meet your educational and career goals:
3)What skills I bring to this kind of learning experience:

I look forward to many different learning experiences during this 2 year program at Governor’s School @ Innovation Park. An example of this point is getting to know and being surrounded by others who share the similar attraction and enthusiasm for the subject of Science and Math as I do. Looking back at my academic years, I believe the main reason for my proficiency in the areas of Science and Math is my great curiosity in those subjects. Being fascinated and yearning to learn more about those subjects encouraged me to spend a great deal of further study and reading novels that pertained to those areas. Another learning experience that I anticipate is the personal challenge this will bestow upon me. From what I know, this program offers a rigorous course of study in Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics that take place in George Mason’s College Campus and is designed for students who desire to explore and learn in different, contrasting ways. Such qualities of a learning atmosphere are what I believe to be ideal. Being aware of my craving for knowledge, the undivided attention to class lectures, and devotion to studying, I hope this experience will satisfy my passion for learning. I’ll look forward to being extended and challenged.

Participation in this kind of learning experience will meet my educational and career goals, because it will challenge, keep me committed to it for 2 years, and teach me more about the studies of my future careers. I am deeply interested in a career in the medical field. The future occupation that I am most likely to pursue is either an emergency room physician or a pharmacologist. Saving lives is something I’ve always wanted to do. I would often visualize myself fixing up a patient in a scenario of life and death. The medical field has always fascinated me. This job requires quick analytical response to injuries and illnesses of patients. Studying medicine also lead me to think about a career in pharmacology. Pharmacologist study the interaction and alterations that drugs have on a living organism and its functions. ER physicians and Pharmacists will need to have spent a great deal of time studying Physics, Mathematics, Biology, and Chemistry all of which are the main studies at Governor’s School

Geoff answers:

In the beginning of the second paragraph you need to omit the comma after the word goals. It doesn’t need a comma there because you are just continuing the statement. The comma is fine after the word challenge because that ends the first train of thought but the word ‘and’ takes the place of a comma so if you use it you do not use a comma so you need to also take the comma out after the words 2 years. Other than that, the wording and phrasing are great and its a very good and enlightening essay that states exactly what you feel. Good luck in the school.

Would Information Technology(IT) be a profitable career in Japan for a US foreigner?

I am studying Information Technology for my career but I also wanted to live and work in Japan and I was curious as to whether it was a profitable industry for foreigners. I am studying mainly for network and system administration but leaning more towards system administration because I like helping people more. I see network admins as people stuck in one room most of their day fiddling with routers, switches, bridges and such.

My one weakness in IT is my programming ability. I think I could program in languages that can be learned such as HTML but I do not feel confident in ones that have require advanced math. Math is probably my worst subject in the world or at least the one I like least.

I plan to complete my Associate of Applied Science degree in Information Technology and then pursue a Bachelor’s degree in Information Management Systems or something that would fit well with my IT degree, I’m still not sure on that front. I also plan on pursuing relevant IT certifications such as Cisco, Microsoft, CompTIA, etc etc. If network or system administration does not work out then maybe something like help desk support. I have been taking computers apart since I was young and they fascinate me and I love helping people understand how to get the most out of them.

If I couldn’t get into either of the above careers I was thinking I could fall back into teaching computers at a school. I have heard that a large amount of Japanese are not exactly literate in the use of a computer(hard to believe, I know) and I have read articles that say Japan wants to increase overall literacy in computers. I think I could do this alongside teaching English.

I realize I would have to learn Japanese both written and spoken to a fluent degree and I am also working on that front although I am focusing on spoken more than written at the moment. I would prefer I have a fluency in speaking before attempting to conquer the writing system.

Any other information you think would be of help would be welcome.

I’ll tell you what I tell any of my friends just starting college. Your first year (sometimes even first two) are general classes. It’s a myth to think you need to decide right now what you’re going to do. Take general classes (English, Math, Science, Humanities, Art, etc) and talk to students who are pursuing the degrees you’re looking at. You may think you don’t like programming but there may be areas that you never saw or haven’t tried that you like. Don’t limit yourself before you even start. You can even talk to the advisers to see if there are any internships so you can get a real feel for what it is before you make a choice.

How many of you think the American Empire will never fall?

The Roman Empire ruled over quite a bit of the earth’s surface.. then that disappeared; the Arabs (who the Americans hate so much) ruled an equally large part of the world for a while, they taught the Europeans the modern number system and even invented algebra (I believe somebody called al jebr first used it whence the name), they taught the Europeans architecture and ship building, and did their own little bit to spread their religion as well, but in time their supremacy was gone. For people in America that want to bomb the Arabs to stone age, well, actually white people are NOT in the stone age because of the Arabs (no Arabs => no modern number system =>no zero => no modern math => no technology => no bomb). But anyways in time the Arab civilization lost its premier position. The British Empire rose and fell. Well the American Empire has risen. Let’s see how many of you think it will never fall?

If you want , you can state your reasons for or against.
You may also mention your level of education, the country you reside in and your political affiliation. I simply want to check for a correlation.
May be some people got their panties in a bunch for my saying American Empire. Allright, how about “American Empire” in quotes.
BTW, Rome was a “Republic” too to start with. But when we look back we don’t say the Roman Republic, we say Roman Empire. The word Senate was borrowed from Rome.

People never fail to amaze me with their ignorance.

Geoff answers:

America is absolutely an Empire. Americans as a culture group may not like the term, but is is 100% accurate. Arabs are not hated by Americans at all, In fact, My Brother goes to school in Michigan, their is a city called Deerborn, which have the most of people from Iraq outside of Iraq anywhere in the world. We are both Christian, as is my whole family, and we have many middle eastern friends, who are Muslim. Minarets ring bells in the street 5 times a day, the libraries have special places in the chance that a Muslim happens to be studying when it comes time to pray, as well as a few other things cherished by Islam (some places have quebla walls just to be respectful, and show understanding) Americans hate Islam Fundamentalist, this is not hypocritical of the culture group, we for the most part, hate Christian fundamentalists as well, Groups like the KKK who are intolerant, and hostile. Can you answer this….Why are we not allowed to have a church that rings it’s bell for us on Sunday?

Enough of American politics, lets get to history and facts. After the Roman Empire fell, England was the next Empire. Arabs, Muslims were never an Empire. Mohammad got kicked out of Mecca and went to Medina where he became the Political, religious and military leader. He went back and Conquered Mecca and then preceded to conquer the Middle East and North Europe. Going as far as even conquering Spain, which they only ruled for a short time. (it is from this time modern bull fighters use the word “O’lay” in the ring. It is a variation of Allah.) This is a far as they went spreading religion. They have ruled basically the same territory for 1400 years. Their supremacy has been very consistent.

The definition of an Empire is – 1: the domain ruled by an emperor or empress (to all Americans this can also include a King, Queen or President)

Although Islam conquered a lot of land they were never the dominate rule. Their is a wealth of history that shows this. Italy, Greece, Asia, and Europe were all well established Independent societies by then, that Arabs did not or had ever dominate or rule over.

Arabs did invent the concept of zero, but the Maya invented Algebra. The Greeks will argue the only reason Arabs had a number system if because they invented it with Geometry. Which is very obvious in ancient Arab architecture, they are known for 3 things, bright colors, plants/animals and Geometric Patterns. Arabs and Europeans learned this when they were ruled by Rome after Rome learned it from the Greeks.

Mesopotamia is called the cradle of life, but Egypt is older. Look at their architecture. Their is no proof as to who taught who what as far a pyramids and ziggurats go. Rome invented the Arch,(this is the father od scalloped, horseshoe, and pointed arches of Islam) and the Pantheon, which is the basis for all Mosques all over the world. Before their were ships, their were boats and these clearly was started by Egypt, and they were good at it, they basically just went up and down the Nile. It was the Greeks that invented Ship Building as we see it today. They needed to for Trade. Greece is basically a mountain, very little places to grow wheat, do they developed a mode of transportation that allowed them to trade grapes (wine) and Olives (oil) for wheat. This is the real reason for the Trojan war, who it is believe to have occurred around 1100 bce.

Why people write Americans, instead of, the American government, or the current administration, is a profound problem with the world. Americans are not hateful, we get up everyday and go to work, take care of our kids, and feel awful watching the news at night.

Why can’t the Arabs see what we see. In this country we have people from every corner of the globe. We allow every religion their church, anyone can shop, work, eat dinner where they please with whoever they please. Here, a Muslim, a Catholic, a Christian, and a Hindu can all go out, talk, eat, and get along. Their are no tanks in the streets, no police in the streets with guns waiting for gun fire between religious groups to beak out. Why can’t it be like this in the Middle East? Americans do not hate Arabs. We know that the majority are just like us, get up, go to work, love their kids. We know Arabs are not all fundamentalists.

Their is 2 sides to every blade. Arabs would still be in the stone ages if it were not for many people and cultures who came before and taught them, as would America. If it was not for Arabs, we would have no zero, no beautiful mosques, Minarets, quebla walls, and no one to show us an alternative perspective of religion. Wonderful music. And in my own Opinion Arabic Calligraphy is the most beautiful writing in the world. If it was not for America, Arabs would have no electricity, no phone no Internet. As well as countless other technological advances that have ben made since the industrial revolution. Why don’t the Arabs thank us for this?

Religious, military, and political leaders have all socialized us to think a certain way and some do things for their own personal agendas that effect millions of people. Maybe sometimes right, maybe sometimes wrong. At the end of the day most are just people Arab or American. I am very much an idealist and I pray one day to be able to explore the cradle of civilization with openness and no fear, the way, I hope any Arab can come to America and see the good we have.

When you see rude things some say… Think fundamentalist.

Lacelot682005 – Rome was an Empire the same way we are a nation and a country (look up the definition so you are not ignorant to what I am saying)

Also, Read the rise and Fall of the Roman Empire this shows where you are just stupid, the Roman Empire ended, because they tried to rule too much for the military to handle. They didn’t have the defense to protect Rome when Alarick (a goth) banded his and other slaves of the empire and over threw them. That sounds more like todays conservatives, trying to rule the world while the slaves (all us who have to work to make sure the capitalist get their money) are all watching and deciding we have had enough) If they would have stayed in Rome with their Gay Marraige and Free Love they may still be an Empire to this day.

America’s political structure is Olagarchy, not Republic, Hey don’t believe me, look at Ancient Sparta’s govermental structure. France did and we liked how that worked for them.

GRE essay writing opinion? (AWA)?

Present your perspective on the issue below, using relevant reasons and/or examples to support your views.
“It is unfortunate that today’s educators place so much emphasis on finding out what students want to include in the curriculum and then giving it to them. It is the educators’ duty to determine the curriculum and the students’ duty to study what is presented to them.”

A:
Today’s education system has, like every other ‘system’, evolved since the time of its inception. While it is pertinent that this system, regularly, makes changes to itself so that it is relevant to contemporary events; sometimes changes have a not-so-desirable effect. Experimentation always has its positive and negative effects, and over time, the negative effects need to be ironed out.

I don’t entirely agree with the author that students should always be kept away from the education system. Involving students in picking topics that they want included in their curriculum has both advantages and fallacies. The following paragraphs are intended to shine some light on the same.

The obvious advantage to allowing students to pick what they want to include in their curriculum is that they would feel involved in the system. When one feels his/her opinion is taken into account while making a big decision, he/she is more involved in the learning process, and hence would be more proactive in improving their own knowledge. Lets take for example (in the big picture), the democratic and the communist systems – which is akin to the issue mentioned above. The general public is a lot more aware of present events and have a feel-good attitude toward their nation in a democratic nation than a communist one – because citizens feel like they are involved in shaping the future of the country.

Another positive outcome of involving students is that because educators sometimes overlook what is ‘needed’ by students to remain competitive, the latter’s involvement in the system could be beneficial to the school/system. Not all educators are up-to-date with the technology that is available to students today. In this day and age of supercomputers, broadband and interconnectivity, students (especially of the 4th-10th grade bracket) are becoming more and more aware of anything and everything the internet gives access to. Educators sometimes get stumped in the classroom when a student asks, say, how a transistor works, and is unable to give an answer; and a minute of searching on his handheld mobile computing device later – he know what a transistor is.

On the flip side, allowing (only) students to choose their curricula could have a detrimental effect on their overall knowledge. For example, lately, in the last few years, parents in the US have ‘complained’ to teachers and educational bodies about the ‘difficulty’ of the math taught in public schools (for that matter, it is true of other subjects as well). Children have been finding basic algebra and trigonometry hard to follow. We, as adults, know the importance of basic concepts like these in the fields of astronomy, physics, engineering et cetera. It is not, therefore, a big surprise that there are fewer American engineers willing to work for a certain amount of compensation as opposed to, say, Chinese or Indian engineers.

Also, what has to be considered is that not all students are mature enough to understand what is important and what is not. For example, there may be a student who is extremely passionate about making pizzas and he wants that included into the curriculum. Incorporating a pizza cookery class into the system for all students could be wasteful in resources that are already becoming scarce in view of the global recession. In this case, it would make sense that a veteran educator be brought in to realise the value of the what needs to be taught and what not.

To conclude, it is my opinion that, considering all points mentioned above, it shouldn’t be looked upon as unfortunate that students are being given more responsibilty in the selection of their curriculum – but at the same time – a check valve needs to be in place so that their involvement is not detrimental to their, and in turn their nation’s, future.

Do we restrict our children to our own learning because we were born in a different time?

I was raised in a different way to my Mum who is in her 70s because she never had television and was raised through a war where things were different and I can accept that. However my daughter has been raised with modern day technology and outside influence be it by watching TV reading magazines, using the internet. My Mum is very set in her ways and it is causing conflict because I am accepting change and My Mum isn’t she will not accept that she did not raise me alone or teach me how to be a parent. I have watched how other people parent through media and the internet learned other skills on how to avoid and defuse situations that way but it does not mean I do not respect my Mums way was right in her day and age but she refuses to accept I have moved with the times and do not parent her way or through her morals. Wow whilst writing that a huge cloud lifted off of me..

Please read my question! I need suggestions!?

I asked this question a few days ago and no one answered it correctly. I dont need suggestions of products that already exist.

Learn to use a technology that you have not used before, or learn a new application of a technology you have used before. Use the technology to develop a teaching product that you might be able to use in student teaching or in your first year of teaching.

tool. The technology can be any application or digital device that is new to you.
•Include the following in your paper:
o A description of the technology you used
o A description of the teaching product you developed
o Using Table 13.10, discuss what ISTE National Educational Technology Standards
for Teachers this meets and how you can use it in the classroom.
o A discussion of the benefits of using technology in the teaching profession
I am not a teacher. I dont know what would benefit a teacher. To be completely honest, these answers arent making any sence to me.
How would photoshop be helpful in a classroom?

Take a look at Dr. Alice Christie’s web page. One section is devoted to educational technology. Try to create a WebQuest for one example. Using heat transfer transparancies to read a story to a large group might be another idea. Maybe you are trying to make this assignment more difficult than it really is. Technology is used in the classroom by individuals or groups for instruction or assesment and so on. You are asked to develop your own project (new to you — since you are not familiar with this in the classroom, just about anything you decide upon you can justify.) Include in your writing about what worked and what didn’t as you made your product. Take a look here, then ask for more help if needed.

I just read about Pessimistic Induction being used against Scientific Realism? Why are some against it?

The last couple of days I was starting to read about Scientific Realism and the arguments for and against. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Scientific_realism One argument against scientists being able to say that our scientific theories, laws, etc, being approximately true is Pessimistic Induction. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pessimistic_induction It says that the History of Science is a graveyard of scientific theories which used to be successful, but are now abandoned. I did a Google search on it, and apparently a lot of people don’t think Pessimistic Induction is a good argument against scientists coming to approximate truth. That just doesn’t make sense? Why wouldn’t someone think that?

The Scientific Method is observing, coming up with ideas, and then testing them. Ever since 1687, Science picked up the idea of “testing” your ideas from Isaac Newton. Ever since then, it’s been a graveyard of scientific ideas. You can even look at the timeline of the Scientific Method, and just think how much Science says they have it right. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Timeline_of_the_history_of_scientific_method Just like many keep on saying it’ll be the end of the world and are always wrong, scientists keep on thinking Science has it right. Just like we now use scientific principles in technology today, such as cell phones, scientific principles were also successful back then, and are now abandoned. Just because it works in technology, doesn’t mean it’s even probably true.

Using Inference to the Best Explanation, it would all make more sense if we never even get close to being approximately true, even if we do move closer. It used to be that people believed Gravity and Gravitation were actually a “force”. Then Einstein came along saying it’s not a force, but rather curvatures in spacetime. Since then, experiments always show that it’s curvatures in spacetime rather than an actual force. The only reason they still teach gravity/gravitation as a force in school is because it’s less complicated, and the implications of the theory work in most situations, but that doesn’t mean it’s probably true (in fact, it doesn’t work in many situations where General Relativity does).

If A then B, that doesn’t mean If B then A; because there could also be “If C then B” and “If D then B”. In Science, you say, “If this theory is true, we’d expect this to happen. We see our outcome happened.” Just because it happened, doesn’t prove the other way around, our scientific theory, because another theory could explain what happened, that we may not be aware of. You’re only failing to disprove, or committing the informal logical fallacy of affirming the consequent. Although proving is not logical, disproof is logical, because it’s modus tollens. However, disproof is not practical. Deductive logic is only as good as your starting assumptions, and somewhere down the line started with induction. Many popular scientific theories had many failed experiments when they first came out, but then came out to shine. It’s almost like we need to “take time to realize” that our Modern Science will eventually pass us by.

So why are people against Pessimistic Induction? Scientific Realism doesn’t make any sense on the inductive “Inference to the Best Explanation” level, nor the Deductive Logic level.

Geoff answers:

Very interesting issue!
The problem of radical relativism is that you have to believe that there are no forms of knowledge since every knowledge proofs to be fallible.
If you accept that as a fact science is dead. It doesn’t bring anything:creationism is just as valid as evolution and all knowledge is void.

Actually people never act like they think this is true. They go to hospitals to get cured because they believe that medical science is at least for a great part right; astronauts believe in rocket science etc…

The endeavor lies not in seeing that knowledge is nothing but in finding what we cán use.
Answers are not easy but in most cases you’ll see that meta-theories (theories that are used as a framework) are more likely to be surpassed than smaller theories that are closer to empirical ‘facts’.

I believe too that our knowledge will have changed vast in 200 years but I don’t really think that it will be “just as good” as the cosmology of the Egyptians. Somehow I think that it will contain more truth…

can anyone help me with my personal statement?

hi can anyone tell me what and if i need to change anything for my ucas personal statement. i am applying for a game art degree thanks.

I’ve always been Passionated about art and design, ever since I was young; I use to enjoy making scrap books and sketching all different kinds of imaginative things. Peers in my class use to always come to me and ask if I would sketch them an image or help them create a sculpture, I always new from then on that art and design is a career I wanted to pursuit in. Throughout my school years I worked more in 2d design, sketching and painting, it wasn’t’t into I attended college and was introduced to computer design that I then knew that was the design path I intended to follow.
Computer games are exciting and challenging, bringing the user into the game and bringing fun and entertainment for hours. I use to sit and wonder how my favourite game was created, and who the masterminds behind it was, a computer game isn’t’t just a piece of entertainment it is also a piece of art. Technology is improving and so is the graphics on some of the games, making them look even more amazing, I know that one day I want to create some of the art work to contribute to something bigger and better. I love to do things which are challenging and which produce an amazing outcome, so I know that by choosing a game design course it would be right for me.
During my time at college they were many projects I enjoyed, some of my favourite ones included stop motion animation and a quick fly through animation of a city which I created using goggle sketch up. The final outcome was very pleasing and rewarding. They were very simple but these are building steps to help me create something more advanced in game art animation. Some of our projects also included live projects which were fun and gave a insight in what it’s like working in the real world as a designer.
At the moment I currently work in Aunt Bessie’s factory, which has helped me pick up many skills including team building, thinking and planning carefully before acting to help with reducing the chance for costly errors, as well as keeping a steady work flow going. It also involves keeping calm under pressure encase something doesn’t go to plan. These skills can also be converted to the game design industry which also involves a lot of team work and careful thinking and planning.
Outside of my busy schedule of working and studying I enjoy socialising with my friends, this has helped with my social skills and making myself more confident, which will help me in the game design industry by making it more easier to speak to my co workers about decisions or ideas about the project. Drawing and painting is another interest I hold, from drawing images of flowers to character designs, which helps improving my drawing and observational skills. I like to challenge my self so I have took the hobby of teaching my self Spanish, even though at the moment my Spanish language is just basic its still a good skill to have.
Uni. is suppose to be the most exciting time of you life, and I believe by choosing a course that you know you will enjoy and put all your effort into it will create a even better experience, this is why I have chosen to study game design. It is one of the most challenging and rewarding job that anyone could grasp, and I know I will not regret my decision of choosing this course. I hopefully see my self in the future working for one of the top game design industries, and maybe one day I will be sat playing a video game knowing the rewarding feeling that I have took part in creating this amazing piece of mastermind.

U.S Postal Service Engaged in Psyops?
Cloudscapes, a recent series of stamps issued by the US Postal Service looks suspiciously like subliminal conditioning, that is, a social engineering campaign to alter the way people perceive, think or act. Obvious chemtrail images are included on these stamps, no doubt to subconsciously influence us into believing that what we are seeing in the skies is perfectly normal and nothing to be alarmed about (…move along folks… nothing unusual going on here..the sky has always looked like this.)

New Money Showing Chemtrails Over The White House?
The older bills do not show clouds in the background above The White House. How interesting that with the ongoing chemtrail spraying all denominations of the newer bills now show clouds above The White House (clouds that look suspiciously like HAARP modulated chem-clouds). This may be an example of “Ritual Mockery” or “Revelation of the Method” as described by Michael Hoffman in his brilliant book, Secret Societies and Psychological Warfare. Hoffman’s book delves into the hidden meaning of the twilight language and symbolism of the Cryptocracy.

How interesting indeed that while the U.S. Government denies the very existence of chemtrails both U.S. Postal stamps and U.S. currency are now making use of chemtrail imagery.

DEATH IN THE AIR
RECOMMENDED READING FOR ALL
Death in the Air: Globalism, Terrorism and Toxic Warfare delivers the most heretical message in the annals of world health, backed by extensive, hard hitting documentation. Here, veteran investigator and award winning author Dr. Len Horowitz, relays how and why populations are being insidiously victimized.
Documented in this book are the most advanced developments in the field of population control, genetically engineered viruses and bacteria, the latest technologies for biological warfare. Dr. Horowitz relies heavily on Congressional testimonies, legal witnesses, and government documents to prove the public is being chemically and pharmaceutically intoxicated, and electromagnetically immune-suppressed. … the revelations and wisdom contained in this book give humanity, you and your loved ones, a final, last minute, choice for salvation. DEATH IN THE AIR

FLOURIDE AND CHEMTRAILS IN DOCILEVILLE USA
Flouride was developed during WW2 by the Nazis for use as a mind control drug. Research proved that Flouride, when given over time in small doses permanently altered the brain in ways affecting personality. Those receiving small doses of Flouride over time became more docile, less aggressive, more easilly controlled and led. I have not been able to find one reliable study that proves Flouride actually helps prevent cavities. What I did find out was that on the average children living in communities with flouridated water have lower IQ’s. Additionally flouridated communities have higher rates of bone and heart problems, higher rates of cancer and higher rates of neurological problems. WHY IS 60% OF THE WATER IN THE USA DELIBERATELY FLUORIDATED? WHY ARE WE ALLOWING OUR WATER TO BE FLUORIDATED?

NANO PARTICLES IN YOUR BRAIN
“Nanoparticles, tiny lumps of matter… can travel to the brain after being inhaled, according to researchers from the United States. The finding sounds a cautionary note for advocates of nanotechnology… Günter Oberdörster of the University of Rochester in New York and colleagues tracked the progress of carbon particles that were only nanometres in diameter and had been inhaled by rats. In the olfactory bulb, an area of the brain that deals with smell. Nanoparticles were detected a day after inhalation, and levels continued to rise until the experiment ended after seven days.”These are the first data to show this,” says Ken Donaldson, a toxicologist at the University of Edinburgh, UK. “I would never have thought of looking for inhaled nanoparticles in the brain.”

Can I have some help editing and checking grammar on my essay please?

Here is the essay I wrote and I want your opinion on how you like it. I should have a Introduction, at least 2 body paragraphs and last but not least a conclusion. Please be kindly to suggest or tell me any errors or grammar I need to fix in this essay. Thanks!

The novel teach us several different things including freedom of speech, the importance of remembering history and the role of technology in our lives. Without the books for us to read and think, we cannot imagine how horrible this world would be. Everyone would do crazy things and possibly get away with it. People would do something without thinking about it. For example, the soldiers were forced to kill the Jews without thinking or denying the idea of doing it during World War II. Most soldiers were brainwashed. Without the books in our lives, this world would be a dangerous place to live.

Everyone has the right to say anything they want because of the Freedom of Speech. The Freedom of Speech means that everyone has the right to hold opinions without interference, and shall have the right to the freedom of expression. Everyone has a different opinion and should not be forced to change their opinion. Many people have different opinions. People have the right to say anything they want and/or their opinion even though not everyone will agree with it. For example, “Fahrenheit 451 is a great book and everyone must read it.” That does not mean everyone will agree with this. It is fine for people to share their opinions and should be careful of what they say because words can hurt another person’s feelings.

It is very important for the novel to teach us what happened in the past and what we learned from it. If we don’t learn our mistake, we could repeat the same tragic event that happened in the past. It’s best to learn about the important event in history and how they influence today’s life. If people do not learn history then the same appalling event would be repeated. For example, there would be another world at war. Again, it is very important for the people to learn their mistakes in history and learn how not to repeat it.

The technology is always welcome in our world but it does have some negative aspects depending on how you use it. Doing a research and studying important things is a positive thing to do. On the other, playing too much games and using social sites too often such as Facebook belongs on the negative side. Either technology can help you in a good way or in a bad way. People should use the technology in the right way instead of doing things too often that are not important.

These messages are very appropriate and is excellent for all readers to read. Again, the novel teaches us different things and what we learn from it. If there are no books for us to read then it be a treacherous world to live in. It would be hard to find a place to live and have peace. People are lucky to learn history and how to prevent the tragic events from happening again.

You should see if your current qualifications will enable you to register as a teacher in the state in which you are living. If you can get that, you would be able to offer your services as a supply teacher (filling in on a daily or weekly basis for teachers who are away from school for some reason). Supply teaching pays well and brings you to the attention of likely schools who may be potential employers. Note that all teacher registration bodies will require you to have 7s in each of the 4 IELTS components.

If you can’t get registration, the relevant body in your state should be able to tell you what you lack in training and/or experience – every state has different requirements.

The following link is to the skills assessment information for Secondary School Teachers applying for immigration, but I’ve included it because it has links to the registration bodies in each state.

Maybe the reason I can’t answer the question is because it’s math, so I taught it might be a riddle or math, so i asked in riddles too. Anyway here is the question:

Here’s is the question Creating the pyramids was in no way an easy task for the Egyptians. Many of the stone blocks used weighed over 4000 lbs. Your assignment for this online workshop credit is to imagine needing to stack 3 five-foot cubed blocks (each weighing 4000 lbs) on top of one another.
Cannot decide what to do – Radiology Technology, Surgical Technology, Phlebotomy, RN/LPN?

Hear me out – So I went to school for music (I have my Masters degree in it!!!) and although I LOVE LOVE LOVE it (I teach privately and freelance), I cannot find nearly as many students in this economy, and to make matters worse, my local orchestra that I’ve been playing with went under, so I cannot count on that for next season. Anyway, I had decided that since I have my daytime open (since I teach in the evenings), I should go back to school so I can find a day-time sort of job…a job in a field that will ALWAYS be hiring and have good pay/benefits, and one that I can either do full-time or part-time (when I have enough music jobs so that I can cut back to part-time during the day).
Anyway, the local technical school offers Radiology Technology, Surgical Technology, and ADN to be a RN or I can also do their other diploma option for LPN. They also have a class offered for Phlebotomy.
I am thinking of doing Phlebotomy on top of the degree I choose to take just because it’s not too expensive and only takes a few hours a night to take the course and only a few weeks/months.
Anyway, I am not sure what actual degree to pursue. I head that all of those (Rad. Technologist, Surg Tech, and RN/LPN) all have VERY good job outcome (they are always hiring), but I also heard the opposite (too many people are graduating and not enough jobs, or that it’s hard to get into the college degree program).
I am pretty shy, although I want to be around people so that I “force” myself to relate to others – I am very caring, though, and patient/nurturing (I deal with kids now, and I love it). But I also am modest and don’t think I’d want to see naked people all day (so Surgical Tech/RN/LPN may not be right for me)? I like to work with computers and I like science and math…maybe being a Rad Technologist would be better because even though there’s interaction with people, it’s not as much as a RN would have? I want to know if any of these career fields are flexible where you can get 8am-4pm M-F workdays, or any other shifts that would still allow me to teach in the evening and have weekends open for me to perform (Friday and Saturday nights)?
Also – I used to be very smart in science and math when I was in high school….hadn’t dealt with much of that in college besides the “general” courses…do you think any of these will be good for me? If you need more info, let me know and I’ll “edit” this question – I typed too much as it is!
Just want to know what the job outlook is for all of these, and which ones will have enough job opportunity so I can have my evenings and possibly weekends open? Do all of these jobs provide a stable income that people can actually live on (I know RN’s do, but the rest?)
Do phlebotomists ever get more then $9-12 hour, because that seems pretty low for the type of work you do.
Also, out of all the degrees I can choose from, Radiology Technology seems most time consuming – I thought a nurse would have hours a day w/ clinical, but it seems like from the first to last semester in a Radiology Technology program you have long days at clinical…do you get a lot of experience with this? I think it’s worth it if it makes you comfortable and knowledgeable, so just wondering why they have to do so many hours there compared to other fields?

Thanks for reading this! I always pick a “best answer”!!

What is Windows 7? As in-what is so great about it over Vista?

I just had to get a new comp last year and I got Vista. What is the advantage having the new 7?

Frankly, I’m all for progress. However, it ticks me off when there’s a new operating system which will work with certain versions of programs-of course-and some teachers have the bright idea to insist their students use these programs because they are needed for learning. When in reality? The program isn’t worth crap when it comes to contributing to education, or the older version would have been more than fine.

Did some teachers (not all, I know there are some good ones somwhere) forget a world without kids having computers and technology? For example: A cousin of mine does ALOT of his homework on his computer. Get this-he was looking up vocab words on the internet. Writing a paper? Spark, and all of those other sites, of course. Math? He used a TI 84 in a supposed “advanced math class” in the 11th grade. He got credit even if he didn’t finish his homework using a calc that was higher than the one I used (a TI 83) for my business calculus and medical calculus classes at my University!

I don’t know what they’re teaching our kids these days. For him and other kids I’m worried when they have to make it at a University. At that level, (I’m 27 now), we got to use advanced calculators because we earned the right to-we already knew how to do it by hand and it saved time. We used them to do even more complicated math-and he’s not even learning his basics properly.

I remember when he was 9 years old-and had to do a computer project. I won’t go into details, and pardon my rantings, but put it this way- the complexities of the project wasn’t something a 9 year-old needed to be doing. I’m considering the fact that him and his classmates didn’t have a grasp on writing a paper or doing long division by hand. It just puzzles me-if they don’t learn the basics -he’s 15 now and doesn’t know long division still but was in “advanced math” classes, cough-why use all this technology? I’m just stunned, my advanced classes required us to actually do work.

He’s lucky he has me to help him with his homework and guide him through school-but still, I can’t do his life for him and I’m worried that these kids are in for a rude awakening when they get into college.

I DO love technology-and I’m glad that he can at least write papers on a comp instead of typing them up like I had to! But making these kids dependent on technology-when they haven’t mastered their basics-it just makes me sad.

And I did not mean to offend anyone out there. I’m using the experiences of my family (and I’ve got over 60 cousins, mind you) and myself (for me two different states were kept in mind) only. If you got a great education somewhere, congrats-this isn’t meant to offend you or school teachers. And this is kept in the context of technology and technology‘s place in the school room only.

Hey, I’m with you. I was in advanced math my entire school career. I knew long division before I entered the third grade. However, to your original question… Windows 7 is way beyond Vista in terms of speed, and features. And they’re features that you can actually use. Like the new Calculator and the new WordPad and the new Paint. The UI is also better and more intuitive, though they still have some settings buried through several menus. It’s also more stable than Vista and has better hardware support. I’m running the RC version with everything enabled on a single-core 1.8 GHz Pentium M laptop and the only upgrade to the system was to install 2 GB of RAM. I consider 7 to be what Vista should have been, but wasn’t and still isn’t and can’t really be. Vista is going to go the way of ME… Personally, I never used Vista except for the week that I tried to get it to work on my computer (this one)… It just sucked every ounce of speed that I built into this thing and it wouldn’t run my printer or my DVD burner (which 7 runs without even having to use the install disks). Anyway, I hope I helped answer your question.

Just wonderrrrrrrringggggggggg?

What if you had to teach the classes you are taking now or something you learned years ago? How would you use technology to do it? What devices, software, games, networks, or applications would you use to help students learn more easily — and have more fun learning?

For instance, imagine that it was your job to teach algebra, Charles Dickens, volleyball, poetry, a foreign language, science, or the Civil War. Would you have your English students use Facebook to create profiles for each main character in Jane Eyre? Would you have them use Garage Band to create a World War II song or the national anthem of a fictional country? Would you use instant messaging or cell phones as tools for classroom discipline? Could you learn math from Mario?

Geoff answers:

No, because such activities would require the students to invest much more time, energy, and thought into the “method” than into actually learning the information.

Pantomime helps in learning a foreign language. You could “translate” a short passage of Dickens into “text message language” to entertain them for a minute, but you want to teach proper English, which Dickens is and text messaging is not.

A teacher’s enthusiasm for a subject helps increase students’ interest. The Socratic Method (asking students questions about material they have read, not just telling them so they memorize “facts” without knowing or understanding the big picture) is more effective. When telling them what the reading assignment is, you can say things like “it’s important to know the reasons for the Civil War” or “you’ll read the chronology of events, but it’s important to understand the thinking of people to know why those events happened, and not others.” Certain knowledge is simply necessary to have to succeed in life, and student just have to acquire it. If a teacher can make the subject more interesting with anecdotes or more relevant with examples and explanations of its importance, it’s great when s/he does, but the information just needs to be learned.

It would be much better to have them write an essay on songs written during WWII, their messages, and the popular thoughts or conditions or events that prompted them, than to spend time trying to get words (based on a very limited understanding of WWII, if they actually incorporated anything about WWII) to rhyme. The essay makes them understand the people and thinking and effects of the actions of various national leaders, etc., and a major reason to learn history is to learn from what’s happened before (so we don’t make the same mistakes, recreate the wheel, etc..

My chihuahua is losing clumps of hair. Please help!?

I’ve been leaving my 7 year old chihuahua outside for a while now since the weather has gotten warmer. Today I brought her in to give her a bath and I immediatly noticed she had a matted, dried clump of hair on her head right in the middle of her head. I start running the water and clumps of fur just start falling off of the spot on her head. Then I noticed she had a completely bald spot on her thigh. Before I knew it she has a huge bald spot on her head and part of it is bleeding. I didnt have any antibiotic ointment but my husband had some bag balm that he used on his bigger dogs wounds so i rubbed that on her head and thigh. I plan to get some neosporin tomorrow and possibly take her to the vet within the next few days. Other than the bald spots she seems to feel fine. She is having normal behavior. I just wanted to see if anyone had any suggestions on what I could do to help the sores or what may have caused it in the first place. Thanks.

Might be Alopecia Areata (SPOT BALDNESS). It is an autoimmune disease that causes bald spot that can spread to the whole scalp and sometimes even the whole body. Stress has been known to be the main cause.

For a start you can compare with the images in www.curespotbaldness.com. Following this, a skin biopsy should be carried out by a trained medical doctor or a dermatologist. This is the best way to diagnose and confirm. It will show any abnormal concentration of T-cells (immune cells) at the affected area.

Please please please follow my instructions. I have had the exact symtoms with my mice, and i had 23 mice and hundreds of different cages, so please i know what i am doing!
You should take the one that has got mites to the vet and they will give him an injection. But as you can’t afford that do this:
It is too risky doing stuff yourself so go to your guinea pigs cage and take out every bit of his bedding after you have done this: go to get some more but instead of putting the new bedding in his cage put it in the freezer for 1 or 2 days (24 hrs should be ok!) then put in the bedding. The reason the guinea pig has mites is because the mites are in the bedding and by freezing the bedding it means that it kills of the mites so then they are gone!
When i first got my first mouse the same thing happened, she scratched herself loads, i took her to the vets and nothing helped, eventually she scratched herself bald and bled so much. She had to be put down luckily she had lived a long life already. Then when we next went to the vets she said that before it gets too late freeze the bedding.
Please do that… I dont know what ivermectin is but it would be safer to do what i told you. Then after a few weeks if it is still not working, do thwe ivermectin or work extra hours just for a little bit so you can afford to take your guinea pig to the vets. It is worth it!

No offense, kiddo, but you apparently stopped learning how to spell some time ago.

Interacting with people, from little kids to college students, teaches an astute person something about the human condition each and every day. The fact that you devalue your parents’ work is troubling–and suggests YOU have a LOT to learn.

People’s lives settle into a routine. Just because your mother doesn’t want to be lulled by “the internet” (staring at a screen reading predigested crap isn’t “learning”–Google is just a tool, not the answer) doesn’t mean that she doesn’t have interests. Her interests, and those of your father, just aren’t YOUR interests….and that’s why you have a big old bug up your behind.

New technologies are fine if they help people live their lives better. If they’re not needed, though, why get them? Ask the nitwit who bought the first “pocket calculator” that was the size of two packs of cigarettes, couldn’t even do square roots, weighed almost a pound, and cost thousands of dollars if that was a “good buy?” I’ll bet he would have rather put that cash into a CD or a long term savings account, in hindsight! How about the guy who bought an “early” cell phone? The phone itself weighed about two pounds, and the box that it was attached to weighed as much as a car battery. But hey….it was “portable!” Was that a “good buy?” Was that guy “cool” because he had the latest technology? Or was he just a self-important putz who bought gizmos and gadgets to “impress” people? (HINT: They don’t like you better if you have the latest “stuff”–they just see you as the dork who buys anything and everything new that comes down the pike).

You apparently want your parents to be like you, for whatever reason. You are embarrassed by them because they’re not “up to date” like other folks. What “the deal” is, is that they are happy with their lives. If they’re happy, leave them be. I’d like to know “what is the deal” with you–why you’re so insistent that they become “modern” and “like others”–and why you equate having tech toys with “learning.” That’s rather sad, actually. I think the one who needs to do a little learning in this scenario is the nineteen year old.

There’s another thing you haven’t considered, as well. They’ve got bills to pay, like the heat, the taxes, the light, the cable, the gas, and so on. They might not want to spend their cash on the latest “toy” that you find so important. They’re not millionaires, are they? People who make an average wage and are paying for the roof over their head (and yours, perhaps?) don’t want be spending their money at Best Buy buying electronic amusements packed into cheesy Chinese plastic.

I think your priorities are out of order, youngster. You equate “consumerism” with “learning” and the two are entirely different things. You need to “get correct” and start to recognize that “stuff” does not equal “intellect.”

Best wishes.

We stopped contact with the world

The East was the highest point of technological power before the renaissance. China during his period burned all of their ships after visiting Europe and decreed that there was nothing to learn. After the renaissance, the East was left behind. Not the mention the fact that the region has been somewhat unstable until the 20th century.

But in terms of technology the 20th century showed a huge amount of technological leaps everywhere. Now the East is one of the biggest gainers of advanced technology.

What do you think ? ! Can you help edit it PLEASE ?

Can you PLEASE edit it.
This is only a bit of it

Its about differences in Education in the 1900′s and now

I’m in 8th grade

If we were to go back in time all the way to 1900, we would see many differences between life as it was lived then and life as it is lived now. Vast changes have occurred in the last century in many areas of Canadian life, especially in education. Education has improved in many ways. Back then, many students went to school only for a few years because they had to help their family. Additionally, the way schools were built back then differed from the way they are built now and new teaching technology is used. Also, different subjects were taught.
Today, many of us think school is a right as opposed to a privilege, and so we take it for granted. Schools are available to anyone who can gather up the minimal effort required to attend, yet there are many who consider it a burden to do so. Back in the 20th century, students didn’t have this privilege; they either had little or no education. After a few years in school, children from farming or working class families had to leave school so that they could help their families — even if the extra income was small. Fortunately, in 1871, a new law was enacted that required all children to have at least received an elementary school education. This law had a drastic increase on the literacy rate, and by 1901, 83% of Canadians who were over the age of five learned to read and write.

Tell you what. You read it aloud quickly to yourself and edit it as you read without putting a pencil on paper. Aloud and quickly. You’ll see from that exercise that it’s a bit stilted and wordy. Now put the pencil on the paper and revise it to make it sound better to your ears when you read it again, ALOUD and QUICKLY. I can chop it down to size for you but you’d best have a go at it yourself. You are quite a good writer and what I’m telling you is a very good trick. There’ll be sentences in there that took ten or more minutes to write and you are not going to want to get rid of them. But to make it a good essay, you must. Good luck. Oh by the way, you can use my Answers E-mail to alert me when you’ve put this essay up in its new streamlined form. You’ve got my interest.
